Hello 5th Grade Parents and Guardians,
Health week is scheduled this year for the week of May 2nd. I will spend one week on a health unit for science with the aid of the school nurse. The majority of the week will be dedicated to learning about nutrition and fitness for life. One day of that week, the boys will be segregated from the girls, and both will have a lesson on growing up and puberty. I will instruct the boys and our school nurse Dottie Chin will instruct the girls. This day’s lesson centers around an instructional video followed by a question and answer session with the students. The objective of this day is for your child to understand the hormonal changes they are or will be experiencing. Other topics for the week include self-esteem, hygiene, growth and development, and self-respect. You are welcome to view all materials used for this unit ahead of time. Please email me (ggeisler@bromleyeastcs.org) and I will be glad to set up a way for you to preview the health week video, and/or the informational booklets we provide. Students not attending the health unit lectures will be given different work or projects during the week. If you have any further questions please contact me (ggeisler@bromleyeastcs.org). Thanks!

Getting set for Ameritowne
Hello BECS 5th grade parents and guardians. We would like to bring your attention to a handout your child will be bringing home in today’s Friday folder. This bright green flyer contains essential information concerning the upcoming field trip on Wednesday, April 13th to Ameritowne. If you are interested in volunteering to be a chaperone please note the orientation dates listed on the back. March 29th and April 11th are orientation dates for the training sessions held at the Young Ameritowne location, 3550 E. 1st Avenue, Denver, CO 80206, from 6-7 pm. We will also hold a training session at BECS on April 12th 6-7 pm. Chaperones only need to attend one of these orientation sessions. If you have any questions or are interested in volunteering please RSVP to your student's homeroom teacher or to ggeisler@bromleyeastcs.org
